BUILD IT OR LOSE IT!

Imagine our village without a village hall!

For at least 10 years now, it has been well understood by the past and present village hall committee members, as well as by many villagers, that the village hall has a very limited life. This threat to a much loved and  precious asset goes much further than just the risk to the building fabric. It threatens the possibly permanent loss of community spirit, facilities for health and wellbeing, social activities for all ages, celebrations and festive gatherings, local council business, outlets for local artisans, rehearsal facilities and a myriad of other activities which take place now right on your doorstep.

Be under no illusion, this threat is real. A recent survey by highly respected and local structural engineering firm Smithers Purslow concludes that the hall is beyond economic repair.

There is a very real risk that when the hall becomes unrepairable, it will have to close and at that point, very serious decisions will need to be made about the future of the site.

But let's not let it get to that stage.

Get behind the campaign to rebuild our village hall, and in due course, our other vital village facilities including the shop and surgery.

Now is our chance to create a new community hub in Barrowden, securing village amenities for the next 100 years and bringing improved facilities for  health and wellbeing into the heart of the village. Social health policies are increasingly focusing on  local health and wellbeing provision. The Local Authority and Primary Care Network are working with us to secure medical facilities and base wellbeing groups within our hub.
